Entry Requirements
The Programme
This is an Entry Level programme of up to 17 hours each week, for young people aged 16-18 year old. All students who follow the College Foundation Core Tutorial Programme and attend for three days per week and will complete practical and theory related subjects.
The Programme Content
This Core Tutorial Programme supports the learning needs of individual students who follow Entry Level 1 programmes in college. It focuses on core studies which are: Tutorial, Basic Skills, IT, Communication, Numeracy and mechanical related skills. There is an opportunity to do some work experience should you wish.
Units include:
Working safely in an engineering environment
Working effectively and efficiently in engineering
Using and communicating technical information
Making components using hand tools and fitting techniques
Assembling mechanical components
Carrying out routine servicing of mechanical equipment

Progression / Careers
It is expected that some students will progress to one of the following: a further training programme, normally at Level 1; Entry to Employment, an Apprentice Framework or enter into employment directly.
