The Apprenticeship programme is for young people between the ages of 16 and 24 who wish to pursue a career in the motor vehicle industry. You will need to have grades C-G in English, Maths and ICT, and also be in employment within a motor vehicle workshop or dealership.
What’s involved?This Apprenticeship covers the repair and maintenance of the modern motor vehicle, which includes:
• Chassis technology
• Engine technology
• Transmission technology
• Vehicle electrical systems
• Routine servicing
• Employee Rights and Responsibilities
• Health and Safety
• Functional Skills associated with the motor vehicle industry
You will be working at your place of employment and you will be required to attend College for day release.
How will I be assessed?You will be assessed by online assessments, assessments of competence through workplace observations and written assignments.
Where can I move on to after this course?On successful completion you will achieve the IMI Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. Once you have the Level 2 qualification you can continue onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship programme.
