ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

At least 4 GCSEs at C* or above to include English, Maths and Science or a Level One Foundation pass in Vehicle Repair plus a commitment to work in transport related industries. Applicants must be aged 16 years or over. All applicants will be required to attend an appraisal interview.

* NB in most cases it is expected that students will progress through Motor Vehicle Foundation Level One (See separate course sheet) before embarking on this course.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
Those wishing to enter the light or heavy transport industry as a repair technician, though the experience gained on this course will assist in an understanding of many other transport related maintenance areas:
  • Light Vehicle Repair
  • Agriculture Maintenance
  • Construction Plant Maintenance
  • Heavy Goods Vehicle
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The course is based on sound technical studies covering all aspects of motor vehicle transport, reflecting your discipline of choice either heavy or light vehicle supported by relevant theoretical studies.

Throughout the course, time will be spent undertaking a combination of practical and theoretical learning experiences. It should be noted that some aspects of this course will require private study. You will be expected to study additional qualifications, such as key skills at the appropriate level.

On successful completion separate certificates/units of credit will be awarded.

HOW WILL I LEARN?
A mix of continuous assessment, internal practical tests and external examinations are used to achieve this nationally recognised qualification from an internationally respected awarding body.

WHAT CAN THIS COURSE LEAD TO?
On successful completion of this course students can progress on to a Level Three Motor vehicle course in their selected discipline or use it as a means of gaining employment within the transport repair industries and associated areas.
