Who is the programme for? Apprentices or full time learners will commence their Motor Vehicle training through this programme, including those aged 14 - 16 years of age and still attending school.
What will I study? A number of units will be studies including: Working Safely and Effectively Foundation Skills Vehicle Construction and Routine Maintenance Operating Principles of Tyres, Brakes, Steering and Suspension Systems Operating Principles of Engines Operating Principles and Maintenance of Transmission Systems Operating Principles of Electrical and Electronic Systems
Entry to the Programme?
How is it assessed? Each unit is assessed by a series of practical tasks, carried out within the College Motor Vehicle Workshops, which require you to demonstrate competence to commercial standards. The job related knowledge will be assessed by a range of methods, such as short written answers, assignments of multiple choice questions. You will also be required to complete a portfolio of evidence.
Future prospects? Achievement at this level will enable you to progress on to the Technical Certificate at Level 2 whilst providing all the underpinning knowledge requirements of the Fast Fit Technician NVQ at Level 1. Further study may also allow you to attain the necessary academic standards required for Higher education which could lead to supervisory and managerial qualifications, allowing progress to professional status within the Motor Vehicle Industry.
When will the programme start? You can join this programme at any time throughout the year.
How long will it take? This programme is delivered at College and/or in the work place in a flexible manner and requires attendance of either one day per week for apprentices or 16 - 18 hours per week for full time learners. The programme is completed at the learner's own pace and ability.
What about the Money? If you are under 19 on 31st August 2009 you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees. If you are over 19 years of age
How do I apply? Complete an application form and return it to Student Services, you will then be asked to attend College for an interview.
