Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair

The course covers all the basic principles of motorcycle design, construction and operation of main components.

The learning programme involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following:

• Motorcycle Construction and Routine Maintenance.
• Operating Principles of Motorcycle Engines, Tyres, Brakes, Steering and Suspension Systems.
• Operating Principles and Maintenance of Motorcycle Transmission and Electrical Systems.
• Personal & social development.

Functional skills are compulsory elements of the course.

As part of this course learners will be encouraged to work on the college chopper cycle program to develop and build custom motor cycles. The course will also provide good opportunities to work with motor cycle race teams and quality manufacturers.

Progression

On satisfactory completion of this Level one course, learners can progress on to the Level 2 Motorcycle maintenance & Repair or a suitable apprenticeship.
