Course programme



This course has been designed to enhance the candidates’ motorcycle service and repair skills, knowledge and understanding to level 2.


The Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair programme will provide continued theoretical knowledge and practical skills required by potential motorcycle technicians. Candidates successfully completing all units of study will have mastered the intermediate mechanical skills needed for work on various technical systems and have an understanding of the related technology.


While the qualification is recognised in its own right, it is also directly linked to the achievement of Apprenticeships and provides candidates with the technical certificate portion of an apprenticeships framework.


Practical skills and knowledge delivered by demonstration and practical assignments in the workshop. Theoretical knowledge delivered by classroom tuition, guided assignments, Information Learning Technology (ILT), and personal study. In addition to your main programme, you will study English and maths. Depending on your grades on entry, you will study either Functional Skills or GCSEs English and maths (one per year).

  • Frame and Transmission Systems Technology

  • Basic Diagnostics

  • Functional Skills



Entry Requirements

Successful completion of Motorcycle Service and Repair Level 1 and consent from the proagression review board to continue.






Career Opportunities

A career in the motorcycle industry, generally at either craft or technician level.


Course Progression

Further study and training, including progression to an Apprenticeship.
