Course programme

Mountain Walking
Hike Uncrowded Mountains Three days of Magnificent Hill Walking  We've two different breaks - each emphasising different goals, but on both we aim to reach the top of a mountain on most days. Hence you should be fit enough to walk for about seven hours a day (including stops!) including at least 2,000 feet of ascent often over rough ground and with some steep slopes. However our pace will be slow and steady . Over these long weekends we aim to share our knowledge of the quiet routes to the tops undiscovered by the usual weekend walker. This is the break for you if you've done some longer (over 3 hours) lowland or moorland walking but want to find out if mountain hikes are for you.  This is also the break for you if know you like mountain walking but don't want to follow the crowds and tick off the main popular peaks. You probably want the confidence of having a local guide to take care of the route-finding whilst you recharge your batteries with a hike off the beaten track. Congenial Company and Cosy Nights
After tea in bed and a splendid breakfast your leader will offer you route choices for the day. Then it's off out in the minibus (if we don't walk from the door) for a full day of great walking.
When you get back there'll be a traditional country tea waiting to keep you going whilst you have your bath or shower ready for a marvellous dinner enjoyed with the leader and your fellow walkers, a glass of wine and tales of the day's experiences.

On High Trek Snowdonia

Provider description
History of High Trek
High Trek Snowdonia began in 1986 when keen mountaineers and walkers Ian and Mandy Whitehead took the plunge to escape from city life and start a trekking holiday company in Snowdonia. We found Tal y Waen, the cosy old farmhouse nestling in the mountains with views of the sea where High Trek is still based. and began running trekking holidays. Over the years many other outdoor courses and breaks were added always set up and run with the keystones of quality, professionalism and friendliness firmly to the fore.

People at High Trek
High Trek is run by Ian and Mandy Whitehead ably assisted by a variety of friendly qualified staff and sometimes hindered by their two lively welsh-speaking teenagers - Ben and Jessica plus an assortment of rabbits, chickens and fish!
