Moving and Handling

Moving and Handling This course is aimed at staff who are required to assist and move people while at work.  Participants will examine the legal requirements and recommended guidances that relate to the subject.  Participants will learn the principles of good back care, moving and handling techniques and the use of relevant handling tools.  The course will give a theoretical framework on how the body works and how we can look after it, but the main focus will be on how this information can be applied to "real-life" situations.  Participants will be encouraged to share their experience and to participate in using equipment and techniques recommended by the Royal College of Nursing (1998).
