This Masters degree develops your understanding of advanced accounting by examining a range of contemporary finance and management topics, whilst also engaging you in research methods and the undertaking of a significant research exercise. You will develop strategic and tactical management skills from an accounting and finance perspective and gain a good understanding of how accounting techniques and accountants can add value and contribute to the success of an organisation. The programme will also enhance your understanding of the changing role and perception of accounting and related areas within the context of changing global markets, competition and shifting societal values. The aim is to prepare you to face the challenges of managing and working in organisations with a wide array of competing economic, social, political and cultural conditions.

How will I be assessed?
A range of assessment methods will be used on this programme. The dissertation/consultancy challenge is predominately assessed by a 25,000-word written thesis. Other modules are assessed through essays and examinations.
Who will be teaching me?
This programme is taught by highly motivated and experienced academics who specialise in different areas of accounting, finance and management research. All members of the programme team are active researchers engaged with research projects at national and international level. Some seminars will be delivered by external guest speakers from academia and industry. You will also be invited to attend a series of research seminars organised by the department and have the opportunity to present your own work within a supportive and nurturing environment.
