About this course
You will need 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above. Mature students will be considered with previous experience.
You will receive an invitation to come into College to play your instrument and discuss your musical interests.

Aim This course introduces you to the skills required for a career in the music industry.
Content You will study the following units:
· Planning and creating a music product
· Producing a musical recording
· Exploring the music profession
· Exploring an area of music
· Exploring computer music systems used by musicians.
You will develop the ability to rehearse and develop material as well as sequencing and recording skills.
You will study Key Skills alongside your main course which will include either Communication, Numeracy or Information Technology at Levels 1 and 2.
You will be taught using a variety of methods including formal lectures, group discussion, group ensemble work, solo performances, practical demonstrations and on line learning.
The BTEC assessment is continuous throughout the course using practical and written coursework.
Additional Qualifications Compulsory
Level 1 or 2 Rockschool.
Extra information At the end of this course you will become a more confident and experienced performer in both solo and ensemble work.
Progression/career opportunities On successful completion of this course you can progress onto the BTEC National Award in Music Technology. Alternatively students may enter employment.
Screening
Students will also be screened (in the College) and must achieve literacy and numeracy at the level appropriate to the course.
