Successful interview, plus: - an audition - 4 GCSEs at minimum grade D including English Language and maths or equivalent - demonstration of an interest in the Performing Arts - prepared to work hard if you wish to progress to the next level of Company - be a team player - some appropriate practical experience Course Content In phases 1 and 2 you will be introduced to both practical and business skills required by the music industry. You will study, compose and perform in a range of styles including pop, rock and cutting edge electronic music. You will also learn to use computer music applications, sequence and record in a variety of styles. By the end of phase 3, you will be more confident and experienced in both performance and production techniques. You will be allocated a personal tutor both to guide and to assist with any problems. As you will be working frequently with other students on the course, you need to be patient and flexible and open to new experiences and constructive criticism. Much of the work is of a practical nature, but there is also written work in the form of notes, projects, class work, reviews and assignments. There are no final exams as all your work will be continuously assessed by the staff and externally checked by the awarding body. All units are assessed and graded, and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. Progression A successful year in this company will allow you to progress into Company 2 and the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music or Music Technology courses, or to another suitable Level 3 course, or to employment/ self-employment. Fees • If you are aged 16-18 as of 31st August on the year of enrolment - no course fee. • If you are over 19 as of 31st August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases, please contact us for full information.
