This is partnership between Chichester College and Music Fusion to produce a 15 week practical hands on course aimed at introducing students to the art of Music Production. Covering the basics of industry software LOGIC, you will learn how to use midi instruments, virtual synthesizers as well as sequencing and mixing. The course builds on these skills to teach beat, melody and track construction as well as lyric writing, vocal recording / mixing and finally promotion of your product / music.

What you need to know
How will I study?

Your main area of study in Music Production contains 6 Units, which covers studio recording, using and operating midi sequencing software, audio mixing, dance production and microphone techniques. Alongside of the NCFE qualification, you will also be learning about beat making, lyric writing as well as potentially performing and distributing material under the supervision of Music Fusion. In addition to your study you will also be building and developing your functional skills in English & Maths, which is vital when looking to further your potential when applying for higher level courses or moving on in to the world of work.
How will I be taught?

The course is delivered in a practical manner, giving you the opportunity to experience and practice the skills that have been taught to you. This will include miking and recording bands, opportunities to create beats and music for your own material using Logic Pro and then mix the songs to contribute to a final album. There will also be some sessions that will be exploring the history of technology used in Music Production and how it has influenced music of today.
How will I be assessed?

Most of the assessing takes place through practical tasks and completing the booklets provided. However, there will be some written tasks to complete as well as evaluations to accompany what you have done in the assignment.
