Who is the course for?
This course is aimed at anybody who wishes to be involved in the music industry in a purely technical capacity such as producer, sound engineer, D.J. or programmer.

What is the course about?
During the course you will have the opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge across a broad range of technical areas including:

Sound recording and production - recording bands in the custom built studio. Music technology in performance - in a similar way Chemical Brothers, Suregeon and Underworld you will use the latest music software and hardware such as; Ableton Live and a plan a live performance Sound Creation - You will have the opportunity to learn the skills required to make your own original sounds and soundscapes.
Music Theory - an underpinning of the language of music will be covered for you interact with musicians with confidence. Sampling - sampling theory will be taught in conjunction with practical hands on experience of the use of Samplers, both software and hardware.
Live sound engineering - the performing arts department put on a number of band performances each year and you will be involved in the live mixing and engineering of these events.

Will I need anything else?
You may be required to purchase media storage such a Zip disks, CDRs and minidiscs.

How long & often do I attend?
This course is offered as a two year substantial programme and requires attendance of several lectures, practical sessions and workshops per week. You will be required to attend for a minimum of 90%.

How will I be assessed?
For each unit (subject) you will be required to complete several assignments and a portfolio of work. The size and format of the assignments will vary according to the subject.

What opportunities will this lead to?
On completion of this course you will be able to progress to higher education or you may wish to seek employment in the music industry.
