What will I study?
AS:
UNIT 1 practical work; sequencing, recording and arranging.
UNIT 2 Listening and Analysing; a study of the development of popular music from 1910 to the present day with a particular focus on TWO styles set by the examination board.
A2:
UNIT 3 practical work; sequencing, recording and composing using music technology.
UNIT 4 Analysing and Producing; capturing, mixing and processing music and musical data.
Assessment
AS:
UNIT 1 a portfolio of practical project work.
UNIT 2 a 1 3/4 hour examination paper in which you are provided with your own CD of music and are asked questions about the various tracks on it.
A2:
UNIT 3 a portfolio of practical project work.
UNIT 4 A 2 hour practical examination in which you will produce a mix-down of pre-recorded tracks.

This course links very well with Music, Performing Arts, all other arts subjects, Computing and ICT. It is an excellent, broad preparation for further study and careers such as sound engineer, composer/arranger, musical instrument designer/repairer or in retail and publishing.
