Introduction:
This course is designed for prosepctive students interested in pursuing a career as a DJ in the music industry.

The course is set to equip students with the relevant skills needed to produce, mix and record indusry standard music.

Study Mode & Location:
This one year course will be held at Preston College, Park Campus, Moor Park Avenue, Preston, PR1 6AS.

Course Content:
This course is designed for those who are interested in DJ'ing and the DJ industry and wish to develop skills using a variety of sound equipment and software. The qualification involves dance music production, developing DJ skills and also exploration of employment available within the industry.

Students will be taught in sessions involving short lectures and practical workshops. Students will also be required to carry out independent research projects during class time.

Assessment:
Each student will be required to create a portfolio of evidence, which will demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes associated with each unit. This portfolio will be assessed internally throughout the year. Students will also be required to produce a DJ mix CD, which will be assessed externally.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
The qualification has two main objectives, to assist eventual progression to employment or further education giving the opportunity to progress to the BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology/Popular Music.

You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
