Course programme

Myofascial Techniques

This course will run over 2 days and is suitable for existing massage practitioners who wish to enhance their skills by incorporating direct myofascial release techniques into their practice.

The course will be largely practical and give students a variety of techniques for the lower and upper body and teach you how to contact and work on the fascia.

Day one

We will learn myofascial techniques for the legs and pelvis. Techniques covered will include releases for the hamstrings, iliotibial tract, quadriceps, and the myofascial compartments of the lower leg. You will also learn techniques for releasing the myofascial structures of the pelvis.

Day two

We will concentrate on looking at the upper body, mainly the shoulder girdle, and will include techniques for the pectoralis major and minor, subscapularis, latissimus dorsi, the rotator cuff muscles and trapezius muscle.

Students will also learn how restrictions in the fascia can contribute to common symptoms we see in our practices and learn ways to understand where these restrictions may be and how to resolve them.

The course will be taught by Andrew Chick who is a certified Structural Integration practitioner and has trained with Tom Myers, who developed the Anatomy Trains approach to looking at the body and studied Structural Integration directly with its founder Dr Ida Rolf.
