About this course
There is no formalentry qualifications required but the examination must be taken in English. The BIIAB and the Magistrates Association have issued a statement that they consider â€oe……a competent standard of English to be a pre-requisite to hold aliquor licence in the UK†. Additional language support is available from Thanet College preceding the course if required.

Course Structure
The BIIAB NCPLH course covers the syllabus set by Government, to enable candidates to understand the law in relation to:
- The roles, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities within the framework of the licensing objectives
- The application process for a personal licence
- The role and legal responsibilities of personal licence holders
- The content and purpose of operation schedules
- The role and responsibilities of the designated premises supervisor
- Unauthorised and temporary licensable activities
- Rights of entry and prohibitions for the sale of alcohol
- Alcohol and its effects on the body
- The protection of children from harm
- The responsible retail sale of alcohol
Qualification Aims
The main aim is to provide a certificate to those that undertake the course.
Assessments/Examinations
Candidates will complete an examination paper set by the BIIAB, which consists of forty multiple-choice questions.
The examination will take place on the Thursday following the course and will last for forty minutes, following a recap and review session led by the tutors. Successful candidates will be awarded the BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders.

Tuition Fee:£165
Including registration with the BIIAB, all examination costs and the handbook.
Light refreshments maybe purchased throughout the day.
Free tuition is available to those in receipt of certain means tested benefits or to their un-waged dependants.
