National Diploma Agriculture (Certificate option)

Introduction
This well recognised three-year sandwich course (middle year industrial experience) is equivalent to 3 A Levels and is designed to give you an all-round knowledge of the agricultural industry.
The course includes practical farming on the college estate, classroom theory and business management. Many of our agriculture students progress into Higher Education, proving that our National Diploma in Agriculture provides an excellent route to a degree.
The two year National Certificate in Agriculture offers the same practical and theoretical training as the national diploma but does not include the year of work experience. It is equivalent to 2 A Levels and is designed to give you a sound knowledge and experience of the agricultural industry. Both courses require you to commit to periodic college farm experience weeks.

About the course
The first year of the national diploma concentrates on the basic principles of agriculture, plant and animal science, principles of machinery and estate skills. You will have the opportunity to work on all the enterprises on the college farm, including the world-famous Genus MOET herd.
The second year of industrial experience is an essential opportunity to gain an insight into the daily management of a working farm. The college has an extensive list of work placement providers across the UK.
During your third year, you will take part in management exercises leading to the production of farm business plans. You will also concentrate on specific farm enterprises such as sheep production, dairy production and crop production.
