5 GCSE grades at C or above (one GCSE must be English), or a merit profile at First Diploma level (preferably in Media Studies). A place on the course will also depend on a satisfactory reference, a successful interview and evidence of media work or a proven interest in the area.

Course Aims:

The National Diploma in Media is a nationally recognised qualification designed to provide an educational foundation for a range of careers in the media industry and allied sectors.
Course Content:
You will develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life. A more formal introduction to TV production and Film Studies, looking at the genre, representation and narrative of Film & TV etc.The two-year course consists of eight compulsory core and specialist units (two of which are externally examined) plus ten option units. In addition the course includes Key Skills, which develop your skills in Communication, Application of Number, Information Technology.

Progression:
The majority of students will progress onto Media-related HE courses. Some students may find employment directly in the media industry .

Assessment is continuous and students must successfully complete all necessary units in order to obtain their qualification. The course consists of 18 units; 4 compulsory core, 4 compulsory specialist units and ten specialist units.
