Description of the Course
This is a broad, exciting and practical course with a strong design core, including multimedia technology. It is nationally recognised by employers and universities and is equivalent to three A Level qualifications.
Course content
The first part of the course gives students a sound design experience, and includes:

· History of art, design and the media
· Design principles, including computers in art & design
· Drawing development and graphics
· Multimedia technology
· Experimental digital photography
· Animation
· Music technology

The second part of the course deals with the more specialised areas of multimedia design, such as:

· Web Site design
· Multimedia authoring
· Interface design
· TV and video production
· Sound recording and audio
· 3D computer modelling

This provides students with a portfolio of valuable skills and work, relevant to employment within the fast changing new media industries.

The course is based in the purpose built modern Creative Industries Centre, which incorporates a TV studio, recording studio, audio/radio studio, digital editing suites for audio and video, and multimedia computing suite. All areas have latest non-linear digital audio and video editing equipment.

Assessment
Most of the course is continuously assessed. Some units are externally assessed by exam. For course work, students must produce written reports, evaluations, and show evidence of planning research and organisation.

This course is for students who wish to work in Web Design, CD ROM Design, Computer Graphic Design, Interface Design (including Games) and new media industries in general.

If you dont have the required entry qualifications there will be an opportunity for you to demonstrate your abilities to undertake the course.
