Course programme

At present there is a skills shortage in fabrication and welding engineering, particularly at technician level in the oil related industries. This course in Fabrication and Welding will give students an introductory understanding of the engineering industry, which could help lead to employment or further study within the field.


The specialist course is a new programme run at West Lothian College for the 2015/16 cohort.

35 weeks.

To allow learners to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in fabrication and welding processes, whilst also covering a degree of theory in the area.  

With a vibrant, modern and innovative learning environment, the College is well equipped to ensure that students have the best facilities and resources to help develop their learning and skills. The College is an essential provider of a vast range of courses all focused on developing relevant skills for employment and to enhance current career prospects for those who are already working. For 2016-17 it was established that 86% of HN graduates at the College progressed into employment or further study.
