This qualification acts as a progression route from the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (England) qualification to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) (90 credits) qualification. It will support you in the development of a number of job roles in the adult social care sector.

About this course
To gain this qualification, you must gain a minimum of 70 credits.
36 credits must be achieved from the Mandatory Group, a minimum of 6 credits from Optional Group A and a minimum of 28 credits from Optional Group B.
At least 55 credits must be achieved at Level 4 or above.
All those who are working in adult social care.
You should be at least 18 years old. We do not set any other entry requirements.

This qualification provides you with the knowledge and skills that are needed to work in a senior role in the adult care sector. You will need to complete 12 mandatory units, which include:
• Advanced communication skills
• Personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
• Equality and diversity in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
• Understand safeguarding and protection in health and social care settings
• Facilitate person-centred assessment to support well-being of individuals
• Facilitate support planning to promote positive outcomes for individuals and to support well-being
• Understand personalisation in care and support services
• Health and safety in health and social care settings
• Professional practice in health and social care for adults or children and young people
• Develop, maintain and use records and reports
• Work in partnership in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
• Safeguard children and young people who are present in the adult social care sector.
You can also choose from a variety of optional units to tailor the qualification to your interests. These include (but are not limited to):
• Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach
• Diabetes awareness
• Understanding Parkinson’s for health and social care staff
• Understand stroke care management
• Support the spiritual well-being of individuals
