NCFE Certificate in Creative Crafts (Level 2) (Digital Imaging) (Time Based Studies)
This course is intended for students with a genuine interest in image manipulation and animation. It will introduce you to new skills and techniques in preparation for an AS level in BTEC Media Production (Interactive Media), Media Studies and Film Studies. This practical skill base course will follow set assignments to enable you to research artists and the media industry, annotate your own coursework and critically analyse the outcomes.

What does the course consist of?
NCFE Digital Imaging

You will combine basic art skills of drawing and mixed media with digital manipulation. You will use digital photography to capture ideas and develop skills on Photoshop to produce a series of graphic inspired artworks.
NCFE Time Based Studies

On this course you will plan, film and edit your own creative films using a video camera. You will carry out research into filmmakers and learn about technical terms to improve your knowledge. You will also produce a stop frame animation using digital photography and the course allows for both group and individual working.

• You will build up a visual practical portfolio for assessment at the end of the course.

What else do I need to know?

• There will be a small charge for materials such as workbooks.
• You are encouraged to purchase basic materials, ideally a digital camera, 1GB memory stick and photographic paper.
• Visits to local and national galleries are encouraged for first hand experience.

This course is designed as part of foundation course, studied together with NCFE Creative Craft (Painting and Drawing) (Photography), GCSE Maths, GCSE English with an additional GCSE or single BTEC alongside. Successfully completing this foundation together with teacher recommendation will enable you to progress on to AS Media and Film courses, as outlined above.
