  • I enjoyed the course very much. It has given me more confidence in myself to achieve what I can. The course was very good and it made me more aware of the need to progress in what we do to make the education of adults more rewarding for all involved. In places I found the course quite hard but it was very rewarding when I achieved what was required. I think that I have learnt a great deal by taking part in this course which will make me better and more professional in my career. Thank you very much to Paul and Susan for the extra help and advice they gave me throughout the course.

  • This company uses a moodle which has lots of resources for students. Assignments are uploaded via the moodle and teaching observations are done by video. Assignments and observations are marked in the same week and the feedback was always constructive. It was excellent value for money and I paid on a monthly basis. You are also sent your awarding body and registration details pretty quickly. If I had any questions the Tutor would generally answer them the same day via the chat on the moodle. Restored my faith in online training.

This course replaces the CTLLS qualification and is the NEW Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training for 2014. The course is 100% online fully supported by a tutor and available 24-7 via the Moodle online learning system. There are no variants on the level of study for this course. PTLLS or the new AET is not required to proceed to this qualification but you must be working in a professional capacity as a teacher or trainer and be able to evidence at least 30 hours of professional teaching work. A good level of education is required to proceed onto this course as it is at Level 4.

All of our Teacher Training courses at PCT2U are run on a part time distance learning basis. You do not need to attend at all. Saving you time and travel costs. The teaching hours required for the new Certificate must be through an organisational body (i.e. some 1-2-1 teaching situations can apply). Some examples of where to look for teaching hours are: FE Colleges, Sixth form colleges, Specialist colleges, Adult and Community Learning, Offender Learning, Work based learning, the Voluntary sector and Armed forces. If you have any questions regarding the suitability of your teaching hours please contact us for further clarification.

After completing the Certificate you will be eligible to teach any subject in which your employer deems you qualified, excepting those which require a subject specialist diploma (i.e Literacy, ESOL and Numeracy). It is a mandatory requirement now for some funding bodies to insist that the teacher holds at least a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training to work on government funded courses.

Please contact us via email if you would like to confirm whether or not your current qualifications offer exemption. The PTLLS doesn't count as RPL credit transfer on this course.

About this course

The objectives of this course are to become a competent teacher or trainer in the lifelong learning sector. This can also include relative sectors that require a teaching and learning qualification.

Anyone needing to prove themselves competent in the teaching and training sectors. This is a professional certificate and aimed at professionals in the workplace who are currently teaching or training.

Requires a good level of prior academic practice and achievement. No course start dates enroll whenever you want.

Please note that most subject specific teacher training courses are not recognised as meeting any RPL requirement due to the changes in legislation that negates any valid RPL case. Unless you can provide enough evidence for a current APEL case?
Entry to the course is via an application form, initial assessment and a possible telephone interview with the Course Tutor.

NCFE Certificate in Education and Training Level 4

We offer flexible routes to learning, no semester schedules and no attendance at lectures required. You can start your course and move through it how you want and at your pace and under your direction. This makes us better than colleges and universities as they only offer traditional prescribed routes to study. Our courses are also fully supported unlike most other organisations offering distance learning, we actually offer detailed feedback and help you understand what is required. . . Our turn around on assignment feedback is quicker we have a 7 day policy if not quicker in this respect. Your tutor can be contacted 24/7 via our Moodle LMS and again you will get an immediate response. Attendance is not required and costs can be kept down for you. Your time can be better spent reading and researching not getting caught up in the classroom so no more school type scenarios that's for kids right. Cost comparisons are massive due to the fact that our model of education using technology and the Internet allows us to reduce costs and pass these benefits onto our students. However we do offer extra mentoring for all our courses that can be booked out as an additional requirement if required so you never get left behind. We are subsequently more cost effective than colleges and universities even if you take out our mentoring options. If you have outside commitments, children to care for and other interests in the evening or unsociable work hours you can still engage with us as we are always here 24/7 - 365 days a year. Our Moodle Learning Management System never sleeps. We will always communicate with you as we are dedicated to that task unlike colleges or universities whose staffs have a million and one things to do in the working week and you can never get to talk to anyone when you need them? Observations in the workplace are charged extra to the basic course cost, these may vary depending on time and location of your venue.

We require a completed application form along with a discussion with one of our team to ensure that you meet all of the requirements for entry to this qualification.

You will work with your own tutor on Moodle and create a portfolio of evidence. You will need to be observed in the work place across three hours of your teaching your learners in various contexts to prove certain unit requirements. Please contact us to discuss your requirements in this respect. Assessment will be by a range of methods such as written and practical assignments, professional discussion with your tutor, question and answering via our Moodle forums, observation and practical work assignments. You will be supported by an allocated tutor who will also be your assessor. You will also need to be observed teaching in a professional context for at least three hours during the course. Further to a risk assessment further charges could apply for observations. Sometimes a video is taken of your teaching session to inform best practice.

Yes we can take a deposit of £100 for your course then we would expect a regular monthly payment to pay off the balance of the course.

Ask your tutor on how this works and it is depending on your needs. Usually we book packages and our costs for mentoring start from £30 per hour.

What could be improved: I had very limited experience of using a moodle and found it quiet difficult at first and I did struggle with uploading videos, in the end I sent an SD card through the post. Advice on the moodle could expand on options of how to send large videos. I had limited experience on studying a level 4 qualification and had to do a lot of research into academic writing - I missed having a tutor and a classroom to go to. However, I learnt a lot and got there eventually!
