NCFE Level 1 in Music Technology
This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to explore the uses of music technology and the recording process. It provides experiences which will deepen and broaden their musical interests and skills.

This programme is designed to offer the opportunity to gain practical experience and knowledge of the recording industry. The emphasis is on music production and covers the processes and techniques associated with creating, recording and manipulating music and audio. You will also develop skills in: music composition using a computer based sequencer, critical listening, the music industry and live performance.

Some of the units may include:
  • Studio/broadcast technology
  • Developing and using sound effects skills
  • Developing mixing and mastering skills
  • Exploring employment opportunities in the music technology industry
Training provides a structure and opportunity to produce a final recording using basic music technology skills through practical work to develop creative skills.

When you come for assessment we will work with you to identify the appropriate start date, duration, level of study and content which will help you achieve your personal and employment goals.

What next?
Your main opportunity for work experience is working within RNC's commercial recording sessions and during live performances in the College. External work placements are also possible and learners have previously been placed in radio/recording studios, theatres and music events all over the UK.
