About this course
Absolutely anyone over 19 years old, not studying an NVQ/QCF or enrolled on any other government funded course. These courses are even free to volunteers and unemployed individuals as well as those with degrees!
You can only do one course at a time must have a minimum of 8 learners to b signed up within one location, please contact to discuss further as we often have sign up dates in set locations for indivudals to participate in.

Care and Management of Diabetes
There are nearly three million people currently living with diabetes in the UK and experts predict that this number will reach five million within the next twelve years. As the prevalence of diabetes continues to increase, the understanding of how to manage diabetes also needs to increase.
By completing this qualification, you will not only gain a nationally recognised qualification, but will improve and develop your knowledge and understanding and will help provide the best care possible for people who are living with diabetes.
You will also develop awareness of how the onset of Type 2 diabetes can be delayed with lifestyle changes.

· This course is split into manageable units. These are:
· Unit 1: Understanding diabetes
· This unit explores the function of glucose and insulin in the blood, different forms and causes of diabetes and the risk factors associated with each type.
· Unit 2: Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes
· Learners will look at the prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes, and how it can be prevented or delayed through lifestyle changes.
· Unit 3: Understanding initial care of diabetes
· This unit explores how the condition can be managed and monitored, as well as the impact a diagnosis of diabetes can have on an individual.
· Unit 4: Understanding treatment and management of diabetes
· Learners will gain an understanding of the ongoing care and treatment recommended to control blood glucose levels and identify how to prevent and detect complications for people with diabetes.
