Course summary:
Who is it for?
All organisations that provide a service are legally required to be aware of their duties
in relation to current legislation, including the Race Relations, Sex Discrimination and
Disability Discrimination Acts.

This qualification is ideal for managers and staff working in a wide range of sectors and
will be useful to anyone managing or working with people from different cultures
and/or backgrounds. It will develop awareness of equality and diversity concepts and
how these issues impact upon organisational processes, management and delivery. The course will also enable the learner to gain knowledge of individual and organisational diversity experiences, skills and practices, together with an awareness of the different cultures within our diverse society.

The qualification aims to provide a sound preparation for further study and access to a range of vocational programmes, including NVQ*€ s in Care or Promoting Independence. In addition, more general routes are also appropriate, for example the NCFE Certificate in Equality and Diversity.

Course content:
As our society becomes more and more diverse, it is important that people understand
and value others who have different backgrounds, views, values and beliefs. This course is designed to develop knowledge by raising awareness and by providing practical advice and activities on how to manage diversity in specific organisations.

Subjects covered include:
*- Raising diversity awareness
*- Managing organisational diversity
*- Equal opportunities and diversity legislation
*- Equality and diversity application in the workplace

The course contains tasks and activities designed to cover the specific learning outcomes.

Assessment procedure:
Candidates will be provided with the learning materials and can work at their own
pace, at times and locations convenient to them. The learning materials contain all the
knowledge necessary to meet the assessment requirements with practical activities that will test their learning.
Candidates will be provided with a course schedule that will identify when assessments
are due to be submitted. They will work through the learning materials and submit
assessments. Each candidate will be allocated a tutor to support their learning and
mark their assessments.

benefit from completing the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Equality and Diversity before
undertaking this qualification.
