About this course
This qualification should equip holders to carry out fire risk assessments of most low risk workplaces and identify the range of fire protective and preventive measures required.
Managers and supervisory staff who need to ensure that their organisation meets its responsibilities under fire safety legislation. This is also suitable for people moving into fire adviser roles.
This five day course is open to holders of NEBOSH Unit NGC1. This will have been achieved either by completing the NEBOSH National General Certificate, the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety and Health, the NEBOSH National Diploma Part 1 or 2 or Unit A of the NEBOSH National Diploma within the last five years. If you do not possess any of the above qualifications, please contact the Health and Safety Admin Team at WATA for advice on achieving this certificate. Candidates are required to complete an application form to confirm eligibility

Course review:
The course covers Units FC1 & FC2, entitled “Fire Safety and Risk Management” and includes:
- Principles of fire and explosions, their causes and methods of prevention
- Principles of ‘means of escape’ considering the contributory factors of the building and its contents/usage
- Fire Risk assessments process
- Legislation relevant to fire
Examination, FC1, held on the last day of the course. A practical assessment (FC2) must be completed at your workplace and returned to WATA within 7 days of the end of the course. Please contact WATA if you need assistance with this
