NEBOSH General Cerfiticate in Construction

The course is offered on a day-release basis.

Revision, mock examination, practical assessment and examinations are all carried out at the College.

Support is available in assessment, study and examination techniques.

The examinations are held 4 times per year in March, June, September and December. The exams comprise of two 2-hour written papers and a practical assessment that involves carrying out an inspection of a construction site and the preparation of a management report.

The qualification comprises of three separately assessed units:

Management of Health & Safety (NGC1)

Controlling Workplace Hazards in Construction (NCC1)

• Chemical and Biological Hazards
• Physical and Psychological Hazards

• Excavation and Confined Spaces

Health & Safety Practical Application (NCC2)

• Construction health and safety practical application

The Construction Certificate can provide a base level qualification for those with specific responsibilities in health and safety that may lead to progression to Diploma or VQ4 level working towards chartered membership of IOSH. You can broaden your knowledge by undertaking NEBOSH Fire Certificate.

The NEBOSH Construction Certificate is relevant to managers, supervisors and employee representatives with health and safety responsibilities. For those seeking a promoted post or a career in health and safety this qualification is widely regarded as the starting point.
