This course is a face to face option where you attend a set number of unit modules spread over your learning period. This course is delivered in two different ways to suit your availability for a course of this length. Modular Block release(BR) Here there are seven blocks of five consecutive days spread over a year, you can join each module separately you don’t have to stay in the same learning group, although it does make sense to do so with regards to building relationships during the interactive sessions. Dates for each of the modules are located at the bottom of the page and will help you decide what dates are suitable for you. Day release (DR) Day release courses are usually longer in so much as the time spread as you would be expected to attend 40 days of training spread over 12 to 18 months with one day a week throughout the academic year. You are advised to stay in the same group for this but you can swap to another group by agreement with your tutor. You can see the planned dates for the next courses at the bottom of the page. Of course there is the elearning/blended learning route as well, here you can do a mixture of classroom learning as above and elearning through our VLE site. Or alternatively you can do it sole as a distance (supported) learning course. Entry Requirements It is strongly recommended that delegates hold the NEBOSH National General Certificate, the NEBOSH International General Certificate, NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety & Health or equivalent level 3 qualification. If delegates do not have a level 3 qualification we will expect them to attend an interview with a tutor. This will have cost implications. Workplace-based assignment Minimum total tuition time 241 Minimum total recommended private study time 234 Exam Preparation In every element of the course we us a bank of NEBOSH questions and recommended answers to prepare you thoroughly for the exam with tutor feedback. Diploma exams take place in January & July every year. During the examination weeks we have a examination workshop that will prepare you for the exams and practical assignment. Each unit has it’s own examination paper and depending upon how you plan your learning we will make sure you are fully ready for exams and practical at the end of each unit. Assessment System The assessment consists of three 3-hour exams for Units A, B & C & a workplace-based assignment for Unit D. All are set & marked by NEBOSH. Who the Course is For? Learning Outcomes After successfully completing the course the delegate will: • Gain GradIOSH designator letters can be used once enrolment for a period of Initial Professional Development (IPD) is completed. • Attain CMIOSH - chartered status is gained after successful completion of a minimum of 2 years of Initial Professional Development during which they will develop a skills based portfolio and undertake a professional review interview, subject to approval by the Privy Council. • Be able to provide detailed advice for health & safety issues in line with current legislation & HSE guidance. • Be able to assist the organisation in continual health & safety management and control measures. • Have a broad range of detailed knowledge & the application of key health & safety issues.
