Course review:
While health and safety in the UK is underpinned by an established and well-structured set of legislative requirements, which cannot be excluded from a national award, this is less relevant in an international context. The syllabus therefore omits specific reference to any national legal requirements but, instead, focuses on international standards, in particular ILO codes of practice.
The syllabus is divided into sixteen units.
Examination Details
The examination comprises two 2-hour written papers and a practical assessment. Each written paper consists of one 'long-answer' question and ten 'short-answer' questions and the practical assessment consists of carrying out a fire risk assessment of a workplace and preparing a short report. All questions are compulsory. The written papers and the practical assessment must be taken at the same centre.
To help maintain flexibility, SHEilds allow students to sit the examinations at their local NEBOSH accredited test centre or a local British Council where available however an additional sitting fee may be applicable.
