About this course
The NEBOSH International General Certificate is a recommended pre-requisite for entry onto the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health & the Woodland Grange/Oxford Brookes University Diploma in Health & Safety Management. Delegates will have to sit a one day UK Law module first.

The NEBOSH International General Certificate provides organisations with a global opportunity to adopt an internationally recognised health and safety training programme. A unique international health and safety standard award, it has the same format and content as the National Certificate but focuses on internationally recognised health and safety standards and conventions such as ILO/ISO and best practice in controlling hazards.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify common hazards in the workplace and advise on appropriate remedial action
- Understand the foundations and frameworks for regulation of health and safety, including international standards and conventions such as ISO and ILO.
- Advise on appropriate action to minimise fire risk and develop fire procedures
- Assist in preparation, review and monitoring of safety policy and procedures including pro-active and reactive strategies, training audits and safety committees.
- Investigate accidents, and other incidents, prepare reports making cost effective proposals to prevent recurrence.
- Identify main requirements of legislation and codes of practice.
- Maintain records and information sources to advise management
- Communicate effectively on health and safety matters including the use of reports.
- Undertake effective workplace inspections and recommend cost effective remedial action
- Describe human and organisational factors affecting health and safety performance assessment e.g. health & safety culture

*A one day UK Law module will have to be taken prior to enrolling on either of the above.
