Course programme

The INLPTA 4 day Foundation (Diploma) course is a prerequisite to the 12 day Practitioner training

Having completed the 4 Day Foundation (Diploma) course, you are now ready to learn the main patterns and techniques that form the heart of the NLP methodology. This is the classic standard in NLP. Here you will find an exceptional range of skills applicable to all vocations. With this qualification you will be both qualified and competent to start your own practice as an NLP coach or therapist or to add these amazing skills to your business whatever that may be. At this point in your development we add much deeper levels of content and a range of new patterns. We will also delve deeper into the philosophical roots of NLP and encourage you to adopt the NLP attitude and behaviour that can sustain your learning for life. NLP is all about “how to” and this is the emphasis of the Practitioner certification. We achieve this through a process of hands-on practice and continuous mentoring and feedback. Our group sizes are limited to 12 participants and so you are ensured of highly individualised and personal attention.

Throughout this training we cross the boundaries seemlessly between therapy, business and human resources. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and the patterns presented in this training reflect that diversity.

Course Syllabus

The Practitioner course includes 12 days of intensive training characterised by comprehensive lectures on theory and loads of hands-on one-to-one practice of the patterns. Given the small group size you are guaranteed individual attention from the trainer at all times. Here is an overview of what you can expect over these twelve days:

Day 1

We advance on the basic anchoring covered in the Foundation phase with a detailed discussion on Pavlovian conditioned response and then a set of Advanced Anchoring patterns including the Collapsed Anchor, Chained Anchor and SCORE patterns

Day 2

We explore spacial anchor techniques through the Disney pattern and Robert Dilt's Logical Levels and then explain and demonstrate a stacked anchor through the Circle of Excellence

Day 3

Meta Model day. The foundation of NLP through the extraordinary precision questioning skills of Virginia Satir. We will cover in detail the thirteen categories of Deletion, Distortion and Generalisation that will give you amazing skills in identifying limiting beliefs and exploring solutions through your clients own resources. Our approach to this tough subject is dynamic and designed to embed the skills with confidence.

Day 4

Milton Model day. Often referred to as the "flip side" of the Meta Model, we now explore the hypnotic language of Milton Erickson, arguably the greatest hypnotherapist of our time. We teach you to use his language patterns and to write your own classic political and motivational speeches. We also explore hypnosis in general.

Day 5

We introduce the fascinating subject of Parts including Virginia Satir's Parts Party, negotiating conflict between parts through Visual Squash and changing unwanted habits through the Six-Step Reframe

Day 6

We cover Reframing, both context and content, in detail with many practical examples plus exercises in embedding your skills at this outstanding NLP technique. Also included are lectures and exercises on Congruency and the New Behaviour Generator.

Day 7

We explore Submodalities, the finer distinctions of sensory perception and the favoured tool of the co-founder of NLP, Richard Bandler. We discuss the theory in detail and then introduce powerful patterns including the Fast Phobia Cure, Submodality Mapping Across and the Swish pattern of identity upgrade

Day 8

The day is split between Metaphors and Values. We will cover in detail metaphors we live by including deep and shallow metaphors. You will construct your own delightful metaphors in group work. We then move onto values, the building blocks of our identity. Included are lectures on Gravesian Value Systems and an excellent typology test to explore your primary values.

Day 9

We now explore the foundations of the Master Practitioner syllabus through Strategies of excellence. You will learn how to encode strategies using NLP notation and the TOTE. The second part of the day is dedicated to the most powerful therapeutic tool in the NLP toolbox - Timelines. We will give detailed theory and then hands-on experience of this amazing pattern through the Change Personal History pattern

Day 10

The day is split between Negotiation techniques and Life Coaching. For negotiation we use both the Harvard 7 Elements patterns courtesy of Vievolve and the NLP chunking pattern. We then explore the methodology behind life coaching and introduce the GROW model through theory and practice.

Day 11

You are now done with the Practitioner level patterns. We now bring it all together through delightful exercises in which you revise your skill set and then construct sessions, therapy or business, using the toolbox you have acquired. the objective is for you to feel fully confident that you can consult with clients and know which patterns to use for which circumstance.

Day 12

Our final day together. We wrap up loose ends from day 11 ensuring full integration of the course material. We then have an open-book integration based on INLPTA guidelines of the full course material. You will be given hard-learned lessons in starting your own small business. We also cover the course content for the Master Practitioner training should you wish to train to this level in NLP. The day ends with a well-earned certificate ceremony.

Our goal at the end of this programme is that you can step out of the course with the confidence to practice as an NLP coach and therapist. What is more, once you have completed the course, we assist practitioners with setting up local Practice Groups where you can get together with others to refresh your skills. These groups are free of charge and often include presentations on new subject matter or guidance on your progress from your trainer.
