Our objectives are to give you a good understanding of the media and how it works. To teach you to take control, understand your audience, hone key messages and to stay on message. Our objective is to teach you by getting you to practise - lots. And we always make the day challenging but very enjoyable. Suitable for: Anyone who has to or thinks they may have to give media interviews. This one day course is ideal for people with little or no experience of the media as well as those who have some experience but want to brush up their techniques.

Media Trainer

Lisa Hazlehurst has more than 20 years in the media business and is a very effective media trainer. She has worked as a journalist across papers, radio and TV. She has presented the news for Sky News, GMTV, Meridian and Border and has executive produced shows like Cash in the Attic, Escape to the Country and City Hospital as well as getting first time presenters match fit. She is an experienced and motivational trainer who loves to see delegates grow in confidence as they gain new skills.

Course programme

Does the thought of giving an interview bring you out in a cold sweat? It really doesn't have to be that way. None of us are born great communicator we have to work at it. norbury media's one day media training course will teach you, and crucially give you all the practice you need to feel confident and deliver great interviews. This course, in our offices in a beautiful converted chapel, is ideal for people who have little or no experience of the media as well as for those who have had some experience but need to brush up on their techniques. We will give you an understanding of the media. You will know what journalists are after and how they work. You will learn to take control and understand your audience. We will teach you how to develop key messages and how to stay on message. You will learn to use engaging language, how to use body language to your advantage and how to dress for the part. You will get lots of practice too in front of a camera with detailed feedback. And at the end of the day you will be given a DVD of all your camera work as well as a detailed delegate folder packed full of help and advice.

Our key trainer is Lisa Hazlehurst who has more than 20 years in the media business. She has presented Sky News and been a newscaster and journalist for several ITV companies including GMTV. She has presented numerous live television shows for Meridian and has written and looked after countless factual entertainment shows for BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, ITV1, Channel 4 and Five. She has executive produced shows like Cash in the Attic, Escape to the Country and City Hospital. Lisa has helped lots of first time presenters get match fit for their first appearance on network television. Lisa is an accomplished media trainer who still gets a thrill seeing delegates improve and grow in confidence during a course.
