Nursing is an extremely rewarding career that offers diverse opportunities to work in a range of settings caring for patients with a variety of health care needs. As part of this Nursing and Midwifery Council validated course you will gain experience in a range of clinical placements. Throughout the course you will develop the theoretical knowledge combined with practical skills needed to meet these challenges.

Following our 'Outstanding' rating in 2013, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) performed its annual monitoring event earlier this year (Nursing and Midwifery Council Annual Monitoring Report, March 2014.

The course places equal value on clinical practice and theory. It will take you from university lectures to clinical placement settings for young and mature adults. You may well find yourself at a GP surgery, attending health visits or in the middle of a variety of hospital settings, from accident & emergency through to acute care and oncology.

We’ll support you all the way. You’ll soon discover that our faculty is a stimulating place to learn, with modern facilities and registered, practising tutors who’ll make sure you’re being taught the latest techniques. Like our students, we’re compassionate about healthcare and dedicated to delivering the values set out by the NHS Constitution.

We’re dedicated to the continual improvement of every aspect of healthcare and delivering the values set out in the NHS Constitution.

This course is part of our family of healthcare programmes. You’ll have the chance to share experiences and knowledge with students from other disciplines, and to see how the professions work together.

We work in partnership with NHS Trusts and other healthcare services across Essex, Cambridgeshire, North London and Peterborough. This means you’ll experience the most relevant placements and you’ll graduate as an effective practitioner.

Teaching on campus takes place between 9am and 7pm, Monday to Friday. On placement, you’ll be expected to work the same shifts as your mentor. This will include early, late and night shifts, as well as working weekends and bank holidays.

This course is funded by the NHS so you won’t pay any tuition fees, and you may even receive a bursary.

All our nursing courses are approved by the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). On successful completion, you’ll be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Nursing can be a very rewarding career, however there are times when you will encounter very emotive situations. These situations can become more challenging when attempting to understand client’s emotions and fears from a multitude of backgrounds and cultures.

Anglia Ruskin University, our partner institutions and NHS Trusts value culture and diversity in all its courses. Culture and diversity is therefore integral in our BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing program, where we uphold and explore the NHS values in a variety of settings. Visit our equality and diversity page for more information. We along with our partner institutions and NHS Trusts also embrace your spiritual needs and would actively encourage you to observe the essential practices associated with your particular faith.
