  • I finished my Nursing Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University last month. I really enjoyed my time there on the nursing course.. Plenty of good memories and times... Just an amazing experience, I have no regrets. These past three years have set me up for the rest of my life. I chose this university based on its location, wide open campus and that the course I wanted to do was interesting. I enjoyed my time as an undergraduate here, which further reinforced my decision to do a post-graduate. Also there were over 50 pubs within the city walls - now come on!

  • Practice placements were definitely the best part of the course. Gaining experience in different clinical areas was really interesting. The opportunity to work as part of a team is great and it helps with the transition from student to qualified nurse.

What could be improved: I personally felt that the balance between academic modules such as ethics and research, were focused on a lot more than practice related modules. Knowledge and understanding of these subjects is really important in our line of work, however I felt there was a lot more time spent on this, and no where near enough time spent on areas such as anatomy and physiology and pharmacology. I feel that more knowledge of these subjects would have Increased my confidence when starting out in the profession.

Course programme

Adult Nursing has many strengths both as a career and an undergraduate programme. Adult nurses have a unique role in enabling people to improve, maintain, or recover health, and to achieve the best possible quality of life, whatever their disease or disability. Adult Nurses are highly employable, and work in a wide variety of settings and with diverse populations and individuals, across a wide age range. As a result the Adult Nursing programme itself is varied, using a mixture of placement and University settings to facilitate learning and develop practitioners who are able to work across care sectors, and who can adapt to changing professional roles in response to broader political, social, and economic changes. Students on the Adult Nursing pathway are prepared for the award of BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (Adult), as well as for entry to the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register.
