Course programme
With obesity on the rise and the Foresight Study predicting that by 2050 60% of men, 50% of women and 25% of children will be obese; the time to make a change is NOW and this accredited qualification can help you to achieve that. In one compact course, you can respond to the rising level of obesity across adults and children, and prevent the expected expenditure of £45 billion a year (in 2050) on care, missed working hours and ill-health.
Instead, with only a basic knowledge of this subject, you can almost immediately begin improving the health and well-being of your friends, loved ones and yourself, and most importantly have the chance to add an approved qualification to your CV that will make you stand out from the crowd.
Course Description
Split into 3 concise units, our Nutrition and Health QCF can be completed at your own pace over the course of 12 months and comes with the full support of a qualified tutor who will guide you through the entire process, no matter whether you choose to complete it online or by paper.
During your studies you will explore the following units:
Unit 1: Explore Principles of Healthy Eating
Unit 2: Consider Nutritional Needs of a Variety of Individuals
Unit 3: Use Food and Nutrition Information to Plan a Healthy Diet
From uncovering the link between unhealthy diets and lifestyles diseases, to recognising the key nutrients required by each age group (children, young and older individuals); by choosing to invest your time into this intensive approved course, you can learn how to:
• Identify which foods are great energy sources
• Calculate your energy requirements
• Recognise the roles of nutrients in the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle
• Plan balanced meals for the whole family (as well as learn the nutritional recommendations for children)
• Identify and deal with special dietary requirements
• Read nutritional information on labels and the meaning behind guidelines, daily amounts and nutrition
• Compare foods and drinks, and ensure you only consume the recommended amounts
Through the completion of set activities and an assignment, in no time at all, you can turn your diet around and walk away with a Level 2 NCFE certificate that can open doors to many career opportunities within food, health and the care of children and older individuals.
So if you are interested in revitalising the health and eating habits of you, your family and the nation register your interest today. Alternatively, why not explore the bonuses this qualification can add to your existing role working with children and the elderly.
