4 GCSEs at Grade C
Ability to work to a level 3 / A Level standard

:WHAT WILL THE INTERVIEW INVOLVE?

Applicants who meet the required course criteria will be invited for interview, which will involve a panel interview and short written activity.

It will be expected that the applicant will bring along any evidence to support their application (i.e. portfolio from previous course/certificates, evidence of work experience in the industry)

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
As a society we are becoming more aware of the need to take better care of ourselves. As a result there is an increasing demand for professional therapists. Beauty therapists are concerned with improving people's physical appearance and well being, either through offering treatments for the face and body to recommending special products. Attendance at College will be 3 days per week plus at least 8 hours per week home study. Achievement is measured by practical assessment written papers, and a high level of attendance.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Skills and knowledge needed to start a career in beauty. Subjects include: Artificial nail techniques, Body Electrical Treatments, Body Massage, Epilation, Management skills, Facial Electrical treatments. All these subjects are supported with relevant Anatomy and Physiology and assignment work.The emphasis during the course is developing the theory and practical skills which students gain through working with clients. Reception and management duties will also be part of this.

HOW WILL I LEARN?
The course has been designed to follow a modular approach. Students have independent assessment written papers and practical assessment to support each relevant area of learning. This will be proof that students have mastered a particular aspect of the trade. The course involves group work, research and Task Based Learning.

WHAT CAN THIS COURSE LEAD TO?
Successful students can progress to Holistic Therapies by interview. Typical employment prospects in the beauty industry will include: Airlines, Beauty Therapist at a salon, Cruise Ships, Health farms, Television and Theatre make up.

Additional costs for this course include £270.00, for resources and materials. Students over 19 will be responsible for paying tuition fees of approx £1573.00 and exam fees of approx £61.00
