OCR NVQ Level 2 Administration
Course Content:
The qualification is competence based and is divided into easy to manage units. There are 5 units in total, 2 compulsory and 3 optional. These units include the following. Carry out your responsibilities at work; Work within your business environment; Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety; Deal with visitors; Use a telephone system; Operate office equipment; Work effectively with other people. Other units may be available subject to negotiation. You will also study for additional qualifications in IT, word processing and adult literacy and numeracy.
Other Information:
The NVQ part of the course is assessed through completion of a portfolio of evidence collected from a long-term period of unpaid work experience. This opportunity is arranged by the college to suit individual student needs. The IT and word processing qualifications are assessed through assignments and external examinations. After initial assessment students may be offered additional support. If you are 16-19 you must also take part in the Curriculum 2000 programme and this will be additional hours to the normal programme. Relevant work placements will take place in the 2nd and 3rd terms.
Progression:
Successful students have progressed to Administration level 3, or further study in relevant areas. City College has close links with local businesses and organisations and understand their staffing requirements and required skills. This has led to a number of our students being offered employment following their work experience.
