What will I study?
This course is designed for those wishing to start a career in the Accountancy profession. The Association of Accounting Technicians is gained through three stages: Foundation, Intermediate and Technician. On completion of the final stage and provided they have relevant working experience, students become members of the AAT It is a highly regarded professional qualification and increasingly popular with employers. The course is part-time for each of the three levels. The first-year is Foundation Level, the second year students will progress to Intermediate and the final year is the Technician level. The Foundation Level begins at basic level. This level, if successfully completed, may allow the student to progress onto the next stage, which is Intermediate level. Skills tests are held in class during the year in all subject areas. External examinations are held in certain subject areas. The apprentice framework is made up of three parts: AAT Foundation qualification Key skills in Application of number and communication Employers rights and responsibilities workbook Learners will be reviewed in their workplace by an AAT assessor and their employer.
How can I progress?
Students will progress onto the intermediate level of the course as an Advanced apprentice if successful at Foundation Level and after criteria set by the College have been met.

Course Structure
Whilst studying towards this qualification the following modules will be covered; *Recording incomes and receipts Checking and recording onvoices and payments in a manual and computerised system. *Making and recording payments Calculating and recording expenditure as well as preparing authorised payments to creditors, payroll and petty cash. *Preparing ledger balances and an initial trial balance Checking of an organisations accounting processes, totaling the relevant accounts and recording the control accounts. *Supplying information for management control - The collection and presentation of cost and income information to enable managers to make better decisions. *Working with Information Technology An introduction to computerised accounting software. *Achieving personal effectiveness Monitoring of work and responding to changes in priorities plus a recognition of the need for continuous development. *Monitor and maintain a healthy, safe and secure workplace Covers a range of Health and Safety issues likely to be encountered within the office environment.
