Mature students only (19+) You are expected to :- Be in a working care environment, looking after a minimum of 3 clients. Complete an initial assessment to demonstrate that you are working at Level 1 in Literacy and Entry Level 3 in Application of Number. Have a suitable reference. A current enhanced CRB check. Complete a successful interview.

Course Content:
You will study the following areas. Values in care; Health and safety; Personal care; Moving and handling; Change, loss and bereavement; Supporting individuals in relationships; Activities, learning and leisure; Your role in meetings and reviews.

The course is open to people who are working in care. Assessment takes place through direct observation of performance in the workplace, supported by oral questioning and by the building of a portfolio of evidence of your knowledge and practice.

Progression:
Successful students, who are able to demonstrate more advanced skills, can progress to NVQ 3 in Care.
