NVQ 2 in Hairdressing

For those of you who wish to learn hairdressing and enjoy meeting people, this two-year course is ideal. It is a practical-based programme and you will also learn about the sciences related to the different aspects of hairdressing. Working with clients in a realistic salon environment, you will gain the necessary skills to develop your study further, or to begin your career.

What will I be doing?

• basic cutting
• hair style, dress, finish and colouring
• perming and relaxing hair
• product knowledge

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through observation of practical skills, oral and written questions and assignments to test underpinning knowledge.

Where do I go from here?
You can continue your studies at a higher level or begin work at a salon junior level.

Entry requirements
An NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing. You must have basic skills in reading, writing and speaking English, and be able to complete simple calculations. You will be required to purchase your own specialist equipment (further details available at interview).
