About this course

You should have successfully completed NVQ 1 Hairdressing or an equivalent qualification. You should have a good standard of general education and an interest in the subject area. You will be asked to complete an initial assessment to see if this is the right level course for you. There will be an opportunity to discuss your requirements at an informal interview.

Course Content:
You will study the following. Advise and consult with clients; Shampoo and conditioning; Cutting; Styling; Perming/relaxing; Basic Colouring Techniques; Contributing to health & safety; Give clients a positive impression; Reception. You will also study Key Skills in communication, IT and application of number.

Your practical work will be assessed by observation, oral questioning, written assessments and a portfolio of evidence. You will need to provide your own salon uniform, black trousers and shoes (no open toes or sandals), and any equipment necessary to complete the course. Please be aware that you may be eligible to claim such expenses back through the Learner Support Fund. You will get the opportunity to discuss this at informal interview stage.
