Entry Requirements
Attendance at an Advice and Guidance

for further information). An interview. A good standard of education.
Motivation to be able to work in an independent manner. Attendance at four
sessions per week which is negotiated with a member of staff. After
successful completion of the Level 2 progression to the Level 3 is
recommended. Each level will take approximately one year to complete.
Description
This
variable attendance course is aimed at the mature student returning to the
beauty industry or wishing to retrain in a new vocation. This programme is
currently under review with the qualifications board so the units of study
may be subject to change. Registration with the awarding body is required
and will take place within the first month.

It is expected that all students will
enter for the qualification.
Method of Assessment
The course
is continuously assessed with some external assessment and testing through
written and practical assignments/tests.
Key Skills
All
students will participate in timetabled sessions designed to enhance
skills in Communication and Application of Number. Students will receive
separate certificates on successful completion of the programme.
Other
Studies (enhancement)
Students may also choose to study for a GCSE
to increase their qualifications, or to resit a previous GCSE subject to
improve a grade. To enhance employment opportunities the course may also
have additional qualifications built into the programme.
Other
Activities
Students may be required to participate in a work
experience programme as an integral part of the course, where this is
appropriate. Students will have an opportunity to undertake optional
in-house training with external companies at a cost of £10.
Progression
This
course is a recognised route into a full-time Level 3 course, employment
or an Apprenticeship via a Training Agency.
Fees
Tuition and
registration fees are free for students aged 16-18 as at 31 August 2009
for the course period. Students aged 19+ as at 31 August 2009 will be
required to pay the fees below. You are required to pay a tuition fee for
each year of study. All fees are due at the time of your enrolment. Costs
may vary for international students, please ask for details.
Equipment
Charge
Students will be required to purchase professional workwear,
equipment and products which will be purchased directly from an approved
college supplier. Order forms will be provided during the enrolment period
and the approximate cost is £250.
Consumable Items
Students
will need to purchase text books at approximately £30, a USB memory stick
and headphones.
