What will I study?
The (NVQ) National Vocational Qualification is aimed at developing safe and skilled practices preparing learners for work within the construction industry.

How can I progress?
*The course leads to a National Vocational Qualification level 2 (once students get a job in industry). *Students can progress onto higher levels for improved employment prospects. *Further progression onto a BTEC National course in Construction is possible.

What will I need to qualify for this course?
In order to qualify for this course students will need; *An excellent reference from your employer, *To have a Level 1 NVQ, *Proof of working in the Construction Industry and to provide evidence that you can complete a full range of practical work on site, *A reasonable level of education (studied up to GCSE level), *To be in good health to enable you to achieve all units eg scaffolding which requires you to work at height.

Course Structure
In order to gain a full NVQ 2 Painting & Decorating these units will be studied; *Store resources ready for use, *Erect and dismantle working platforms, *Contribute to efficient working practices, *Provide temporary protection to work areas, *Prepare surfaces for the application of decorative/protective finishes, *Apply paint systems by brush and roller plus painter and decorator route, *Apply wall coverings to non-complex locations, *Produce decorative specialist paint finishes basic, *Communication, *Practical, *Theory, *Tutorial. Students are required to provide a named person from a site who will act as their "work based recorder" and students must agree to work to College, School and Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) regulations. An informal interview is required. Students are expected to provide their own, Pen, Pencil, Scale Ruler, Calculator, Eraser, Steel Toe Capped Boots and Overalls if Required. This qualification requires students to supply relevant, suitable work-based evidence. All students will have to complete external tests where relevant.
