What will I study?
The (NVQ) National Vocational Qualification is aimed at developing safe and skilled practices preparing students for work within the construction industry.

How can I progress?
*The course leads to a National Vocational Qualification NVQ Level 3.

What will I need to qualify for this course?
In order to qualify for this course students will need; *An excellent reference from your employer. *A Level 1 NVQ. *Proof of working in the Construction Industry and to provide evidence that they can complete a full range of practical work on site. *A reasonable level of education (studied up to GCSE level). *To be in good health to enable you to achieve all units eg scaffolding which requires you to work at height. Students are required to provide a named person from a site who will act as their "work based recorder" and they must agree to work to College, School and Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) regulations. (An informal interview is required.)

Course Structure
These are the titles of the units students will study; Mandatory Core Units (Site Work): *Store resources ready for use, *Erect and dismantle working platforms, *Contribute to efficient working practices. Carpentry and Joinery Site Work Option: *Install first fixing components, *Install Second Fixing Components, *Erect Structural carcassing components, *Tutorial, *Practical, *Theory. This qualification requires the student to supply relevant, suitable work-based evidence. Where relevant all students will have to complete external tests, study and be assessed externally on key-skills. Students are also expected to provide their own pen, pencil, scale ruler, calculator, eraser, steel toe capped boots and overalls (if required).
