Entry Requirements
Successful completion of NVQ Level 2
Beauty Therapy, an interview and a good standard of education. Motivation
to be able to work in an independent manner.
Attendance of approx
15 hours per week.
Please Note: some medical conditions may need a
GP referral prior to commencement of the course. Please consult a lecturer
for further advice.
Description
This variable attendance
course is aimed at the mature student returning to Beauty Therapy or
wishing to retrain in a new vocation.

- Effective Business Management
Students
are reminded that this is an academic course and they must allow time for
private study and home assignments in addition to lectures.
Attendance
of at least 85% is necessary in order to complete the course.
It is
expected that all students will enter for the qualification.
Method
of Assessment
The course is continuously assessed by both practical
and written assignments/tests to demonstrate competence.
Key Skills
All
students will participate in timetabled sessions designed to enhance
skills in Communication and Application of Number. Students will receive
separate certificates on successful completion of the programme.
Other
Studies (enhancement)
Students may also choose to study for a AS/A
level to increase their qualifications. To enhance employment
opportunities the course may also have additional qualifications built
into the programme.
Other Activities
Students may be required
to participate in a work experience programme as an integral part of the
course, where this is appropriate. The course includes an optional trip at
a cost of approximately £25.
Progression
After
completing this course you should be able to:
- Show competency in all
aspects of Beauty Therapy to NVQ level 3
- To seek employment within
the Beauty Therapy industry
- Continue further training in
Hairdressing, Diploma in Holistic Therapies, Sports Massage, Nail Services

Fees
Tuition and
registration fees are free for students aged 16-18 as at 31 August 2009
for the course period. Students aged 19+ as at 31 August 2009 will be
required to pay the fees below. You are required to pay a tuition fee for
each year of study. All fees are due at the time of your enrolment. Costs
may vary for international students, please ask for details.
Equipment
Charge
Students will be required to purchase professional workwear,
equipment and products which will be purchased directly from an approved
college supplier. Order forms will be provided during the enrolment period
and the approximate cost is £230.
Consumable Items
Students
will need to purchase text books at approximately £30 and a USB memory
stick.
