NVQ 3 HAIRDRESSING ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIP
Entry Requirements
Previous qualifications/experience is an
advantage and this qualification is aimed at practising employed
hairdressers. If you are working in a salon please contact the BCOT
Apprenticeship Department.
Registration Requirements:
Registration
with awarding body is required and will take place during the first month.
Description
This
programme is integrated and follows the same structure and time as the NVQ
Level 3 in Hairdressing. It is based on 4 terms, but is flexible, allowing
students to complete over a shorter or longer period. Evidence from
previous work where available may contribute to the qualification. Key
skills are also integrated and assessed as part of this course.

- Health and Safety legislation
- The maintenance and
improvement of service for the benefit of clients
- GNVQ Key Skills to
develop academic and enhance personal skills including communications
level 2
- Application of number level 2. These are fully integrated and
are taught and assessed through the hairdressing evidence

Where a course is aimed towards an
assessment/examination, it is expected that all students will enter for
the qualification.
Method of Assessment
Continuous assessment
in college and within the workplace. The production of a portfolio of
activities associated with the above. Assessment of practical, oral and
written tasks.
Progression
Progress to Management NVQ Level 4.
Materials
Stationery. Hairdressing tools (scissors, combs etc).
Camera would be an advantage. Uniform/footwear for salon sessions (order
form through HH&BT). Books are not compulsory but are advisable -
estimated cost £65. Two head blocks, one for colour work, one for cutting
