Entry Requirements
NVQ Level 2 Teaching/Classroom Assistant
or equivalent. At least three years' experience. Access to work in the
appropriate setting for 2 or 3 days a week is required. GCSE standard of
English and Maths. You will be assessed on your key skills of
Communication and Application of Number on entry.

Description
The
level 3 NVQ for Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is a work
based qualification designed for those who work with teachers in a
classrooms supporting the learning process in primary, secondary and
special schools. Students will be expected to have a good standard of
English and be able to research information within the work place. At this
level it is expected that you also work in an advisory category to new
teaching assistants.
Course Content
To achieve the Level 3
NVQ in Support Teaching and Learning in Schools candidates must complete
all 6 mandatory units, plus 4 units from Group A-E (total 10 units). No
more than 2 units may be taken from Group E (B5 and B6 leadership units
cannot be chosen together).

Course Delivery
Collection
of assessment evidence is clearly the responsibility of the candidate with
less support than at NVQ Level 2. Students attend college one evening per
week.
Where a course is aimed towards an assessment/examination, it is
expected that all students will enter for the qualification.
Method
of Assessment
A full NVQ Level 3 is achieved by the production of a
portfolio of evidence, which proves job competence (this includes
assessments in the workplace) and a knowledge and understanding of the
role of the teaching/classroom assistant.
