NVQ 4 ACCOUNTING AAT TECHNICIAN STAGE

You have an automatic entry onto the course if
you have NVQ 3 Accounting. If you do not meet the above criteria it may

Description
This
course enables candidates to obtain an NVQ level 4 with the Association of
Accounting Technicians and is the final year of the Accounting Technician
qualification, successful completion will enable students to obtain the
letters 'MAAT'. Completion of this level gives entry and some exemptions
to further Accounting Qualifications such as ACCA and CIMA.

Availability of all sessions will be dependant on student numbers.

There are 4 mandatory core units
Unit 8 Management
Accounting
Collating and analysing costs and monitoring performance of
the company
Unit 9 Planning and Budgetary control
Produce
forecasts, draft budgets and analyse differences
Unit 10 Managing
Systems and People
Your role as a manager and identifying weaknesses in
accounting systems and suggesting solutions
Unit 11 Drafting
Financial Statements
Prepare financial statements for Limited
companies, ensuring they comply with International Accounting Standards,
and interpreting the results

Unit 15 Cash and Credit Management
Monitor and control of
cash flows, granting credit and control of debt collection
Unit 17
Auditing
Plan and conduct an audit and prepare a draft audit report
Unit
18 Business Tax
Calculate capital allowances, capital gains and
corporation tax for businesses
Unit 19 Personal Tax
Calculate
income from employment and investments and prepare tax and capital gains
calculations
Where a course is aimed towards an assessment/examination,
it is expected that all students will enter for the qualification.
Method
of Assessment
A skill based cast study test for units 15 and 17.
External
3 hour exam for units 8, 9, 11,18, 19.
4000 word project for unit 10.
Progression
Achievement
of NVQ 4 Accounting will give exemption from 1st level of most
professional bodies, ie CIMA/ACCA.
